Red

Why see Red?

A Vivid Portrait

Red, by John Logan, charts the rise of the prolific impressionist Mark Rothko and his promising young assistant Ken as they take on his biggest challenge yet. Since its first debut in London's West End in 2009, Red has gone on to have many successful revivals across the world, including a Tony-nominated run on Broadway.

The play sees Rothko working alongside his artistic assistant, Ken, to fulfill a break-through commission  at New York's iconic Four Seasons Restaurant. But as they work side by side, Ken's comfort in the famous artist's presence grows and he begins to question Rothko's motives for accepting such a large-scale commercial commission.
